Knowing About Pink Mold

There are several different causes and treatments for pink mold infection. Pink mold is an air borne fungus that loves to live in cold and watery places. Other than linen and rotting food stuff Curtain showers are one of the best habitats for this fungus to thrive. If a person comes into contact within anything that is contaminated with this fungus, he can also get infected and shows symptoms of pink mold infection.

One of the basic causes of pink mold infection is wearing damp, watery clothes before they dry properly. These damp clothes provide the fungus with enough water, cold environment and all the nutrients they need to grow. The condition even gets worse when the person sweats and the growth of fungus further speeds up. Nutrients and water lost from skin through sweat and shed provides ideal environment to pink mold for their growth and the infection progresses.

The rotting vegetables, fruits, meat, jam, jellies and marmalades are rich in water content and high in essential nutrients. This food stuff proves to be a paradise for the growth of the fungus. If a person eats such spoiled food then the chances to catch pink mold infection increases several fold. So, to prevent pink mold infection, such food tuff should be discarded immediately.

Improperly sterilized surgical equipments play an important role in spreading pink mold infection. The sterilization of surgical tools kills all the bacteria, viruses and fungus. But, if the surgical tools remain unsterilized they can cause the spread of these organisms. Dirty wash basins are an excellent place for the pink mold to grow. Washing kitchen utensils in such wash basins can easily cause the transfer of pink mold to a human host. Improperly washed utensils also become a prime cause of pink mold infection in humans.

Using infected wash room items is another major cause of pink mold infection is humans. These items include soaps, shampoos, curtains and even floor of wash room. Most of the treatments for pink mold infection are preventive in nature. All these steps are directed towards controlling the spread of pink mold and include:

  • Use gloves, goggles and face masks to protect yourself from getting pink old infection
  • Avoid soap build up on floor and shower walls to prevent pink mold growth
  • Let all the clothes dry before use
  • Discard any food stuff that is suspected of having pink mold on it
  • Keep all the food stuff in dry places
  • Keep the environment dry
  • Sterilize all the surgical equipment before use
  • Keep the dish wash basins dry and clean
  • Keep the wash room items clean and dry
  • Observe good personal hygiene
